The so-called agile methodologies enhance the teamwork and the continuous improvement.

They are particularly suitable for companies or projects working in a scenario of constant change, complex projects and those where time is a very scarce resource.

What is the Agile methodology?

One of the most important fundamentals of the agile methodology is flexibility.

Thanks to this methodology, it is possible to deal with any unforeseen event, change or inconvenience that may arise in the project without jeopardising its results.

In addition, this type of methodology allows us to:

  • Optimising the workflow. To gain efficiency in every step we take.
  • Make better use of project resources. This saves time and money.
  • Achieve greater customer satisfaction. The agile methodology favours communication with the client so that they can be aware of what is happening with their project. As a result, we will obtain higher levels of satisfaction.
  • Adapt more quickly to changes as they occur. There are always unforeseen events, but with the agile methodology we can adapt to them in a simple way.

That said, it is worth mentioning some of the most widely used agile methodologies such as SCRUM, Kanban or Lean.

Fundamental pillars of the agile methodology

Finally, it is important to know what are the particularities on which this type of project management methodologies are developed.

We have already talked about flexibility. But it is not the only pillar to highlight, there are more:

  • The customer is the priority. In order to achieve the high levels of satisfaction mentioned above, it is necessary to keep you informed of the progress of the project. The Project Manager will be responsible for doing this. He/she will hold regular meetings with the client and will manage the interaction with the team in order to respect the timings.
  • Deliveries will be made on a split basis. In other words, the project must be divided into several short deliveries to be carried out according to the established schedule. For this, it is essential that the team's time is coordinated and that they work together in a coordinated and aligned manner.
  • Regular meetings will be held. This will facilitate communication. Meetings of 30 minutes, once or twice a week are sufficient. These meetings will discuss progress, problems and resolve any incidents.

As you can see, agile methodologies consist of applying techniques to optimise the results of a project, as well as the resources involved.

They do not compromise the quality of the work and, in addition, they favour the productivity and commitment of the team.
